November 21-28, 2010 Community Consultation Nomadic Nature Conservation (NNC) organized community consultations on natural resource use as well as conservation and ecology trainings for school pupils and teachers in Tsogt, Bayantooroi and Erdene soums, Gobi Altai aimag at the request of Erdene Mongol Co., Ltd. The core objectives of the community consultation were to increase awareness in the community about sustainable natural resource use, encourage community initiatives, investigate local capacity, and to discuss the highest priority conservation issues in each community and ways to overcome them. At the schools, we exchanged ideas on conservation, and as well as introduced NNC’s Nomadic Nature Trunk program in order to assess the need for participatory ecology training at the rural schools. November 3-6, 2010 Community Consultations Nomadic Nature Conservation facilitated two of the community consultations “The Use of Gunii Khooloi ground water for Oyu Tolgoi and Gashuun Sukhait infrastructure” at the request of Oyu Tolgoi Mining Company. September 8-9, 2010 “Conservation NGOs Project Evaluation And Monitoring” Workshop NNC together with Organizational Options LLC, and Denver zoo, USA, organized a workshop-seminar among conservation NGOs operate in Mongolia during September 8-9, 2010 in Ulaanbaatar. Many NGOs including WWF, WCS, TAF, GTZ and other NGOs participated to this workshop. The aim of the workshop was to increase understanding of the role of NGO mission in the operation of the organization, identify the benefits of evaluating NGO program, increase skills in program evaluation methods, develop and learn to use program evaluation tools such as logic model, data collection tools and data reporting methods. May 18, 2010 “Wildlife Conservation Matters To All of Us” Consultation And Seminar Nomadic Nature Conservation organized consultation seminar among the souvenir shop and major shop owners and retailers from black market in Ulaanbaatar, with MNET and CITES Mongolia on May 18, 2010, to provide information and knowledge about the current situation of wildlife populations, trends, and the causes for degradation, legislations about the wildlife illegal hunting and the trade and as well as the export permissions and documents issued by the Government of Mongolia when tourists/shoppers purchased the fur and products made from wild animals that are specified in CITES appendices.
